More about me…

My Practice

My qualifications are a First Class BSc in Nutrition and Dietetics, from the University of London, and a Diploma in Nutritional Healing (N.H.F. Dip).

In line with naturopathic principles, I believe that there is no ‘right’ way of eating that works for everyone. We are all unique beings, and nutritional needs evolve and change as we move through life. Adopting a health-promoting nutritional lifestyle shouldn’t be complicated, restrictive or stressful. I help people get back in touch with food that truly nourishes them. Feeling healthy and satisfied with what you eat is absolutely achievable.

As per my brief home page profile, I work with clients with a wide range of conditions, but have a special interest in the link between the healthy functioning of our brains and our gut health, via alterations in our gut microbiota. These alterations may have a role to play in conditions such as Parkinson’s Disease, Alzheimer’s, depression and autism as well as other conditions such as diabetes and obesity.

My Backstory

Before training in Nutrition and Dietetics I had spent many years as a professional cellist. Sadly, this career was cut short by hand and shoulder problems which turned out to be a forerunner of Parkinson’s Disease. The diagnosis left me feeling isolated and let down by my body. But, I was determined to do as much as I could to help myself, and regain control of my health, as far as possible, with nutrition. By combining a predominantly plant based diet, optimisation of hydration, dramatically increased specialised exercise, and nutritional healing principles, I’ve managed to keep the Parkinson’s in check. I’ve been able to lead a full and fulfilling life, and still have none of the obvious appearances of the disease. So, I haven’t found a quick fix, but my experience of determined, long term commitment to an appropriate dietetic and nutritional healing approach shows the possibility of mitigating the effects of chronic disease, in ways that traditional medicine might not be able to.
